Our eyelids have an important function: to protect our eyes. Therefore, during eyelid surgery, specific care must be given to ensure that the eyelids continue to maintain the health of the eyes.
Dr. Cohen and Dr. Swartz are cosmetic surgeons who are also ophthalmic plastic surgeons. They specialize in Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery or eyelid plastic surgery). Although other doctors may perform cosmetic eyelid surgery, only ophthalmic plastic surgeons are board-certified ophthalmologists, specifically trained to improve your appearance while caring for the health and function of your eyes.
Year after year we have been invited to teach other cosmetic surgeons our eyelid plastic surgery techniques. We are also honors to have been featured as Philadelphia Magazine's and Main Line Today's Top Doctors issues.

Eyelid surgery is performed at one of our outstanding, accredited, surgical centers. The surgery is performed with "twilight sleep" anesthesia so you are completely comfortable. All of our surgery is performed with the assistance of a Board Certified anesthesiologist.
Dr. Cohen and Dr. Swartz use the CO2 laser to contour the upper and lower eyelids. We feel that, in our hands, the laser offers the most precise results with the shortest recuperating time for cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Surgery is tailored to each patient. Excess skin and fat in the upper eyelids can be removed by making an incision along the natural creases of the lid. Dropping eyelids can also be repaired at the time of surgery. Lower eyelid surgery diminishes bags under the eyes and is often accomplished without making a skin incision. With this method, lower eyelid fat is sculpted, and the eyelid is left looking totally natural with no visible scar. Many patients choose to enhance their results even further with the addition of laser skin rejuvenation, BOTOX®Cosmetic, JUVEDERM® and Restylane®.
The best way to learn how to enhance your eyelids is to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Cohen or Dr. Swartz.

In our practice, Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) is a highly customized procedure. Dr Cohen, or Dr Swartz will examine your eyes, evaluate your face and listen to your goals and concerns. During your consultation they will discuss various options with you. You will have a clear answer about the price of different options at the time of your consultation. So that you have a basic idea about price, a two eyelid cosmetic procedure (upper or lower eyelids) generally costs about $4000 and a four eyelid blepharoplasty usually costs about $6000. These prices include the surgical center fee and anesthesiologist fees. There are never any surprise or hidden costs
We believe that the effort you put into recovery directly effects the the speed of your recovery and the end result. After surgery we ask our patients to spend 4 days sitting still and using frequent cold compresses. You can return to your normal activities after about a week. Healing times are effected by exactly what needs to be done in your surgery as well as your skin type and the way that you heal. To be safe we suggest that you plan on 6 weeks of healing before you are "camera ready" (Like for a big, important event)
