Eyes are the windows to the soul. They express your feelings, reflecting affection, interest, and approval. The signs of aging are often first seen around the eyes. When that occurs, we often send out an unintended message. People may think we look worn and tired, when actually we feel fine. Eyelid changes may also add years to your face. Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty can give you a brighter, more youthful appearance.

Our eyelids have an important function: to protect our eyes. Therefore, during eyelid surgery, specific care must be given to ensure that the eyelids continue to maintain the health of the eyes. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Swartz are cosmetic surgeons who are also ophthalmic plastic surgeons. Although other doctors may perform cosmetic eyelid surgery, only ophthalmic plastic surgeons are board-certified ophthalmologists, specifically trained to improve your appearance while caring for the health and function of your eyes.
Facts about eyelid surgery.
Eyelid surgery is performed at one of our outstanding, accredited, surgical centers. The surgery is performed with "twilight sleep" anesthesia so you are completely comfortable. All of our surgery is performed with the assistance of a Board Certified anesthesiologist.
Dr. Cohen and Dr. Swartz use the CO2 laser to contour the upper and lower eyelids. We feel that, in our hands, the laser offers the most precise results with the shortest recuperating time.
Surgery is tailored to each patient. Excess skin and fat in the upper eyelids can be removed by making an incision along the natural creases of the lid. Dropping eyelids can also be repaired at the time of surgery. Lower eyelid surgery diminishes bags under the eyes and is often accomplished without making a skin incision. With this method, lower eyelid fat is sculpted, and the eyelid is left looking totally natural with no visible scar. Many patients choose to enhance their results even further with the addition of laser skin rejuvenation, Botox®, and Restylane™.
The best way to learn how to enhance your eyelids is to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Cohen or Dr. Swartz.
