Jawline and Jowls
When it comes to the jawline, a youthful appearance is all about shape. While a young face typically has one smooth contour from the ear to the chin, an aging one often sags at the bottom of the cheeks. These areas of sagginess are called the jowls.
Our jowls become more prominent as we get older because of natural changes in our facial soft tissue, which becomes lax and deflated over time. In our cheeks, this tissue begins to “fall” down around our jawline, spurring the development of jowls.
Luckily, there are non-surgical treatments that can lift sagging jowls and rejuvenate your appearance. We have developed a unique and effective approach to these treatments and have helped hundreds of patients get rid of their jowls.
How To Lift Sagging Jowls
For most of our patients, getting rid of jowls involves lifting the cheeks, smoothing away old-looking facial contours, or both. The treatment is easy and takes 20 minutes or less for most patients.
Here’s how it works. To lift the cheeks, we restore lost volume to the upper cheeks with a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®, JUVÉDERM®, or Restylane®. This treatment acts like a mini-face lift, making the skin smooth and tight again, and lifting the facial tissue composing your jowls.
To smooth away facial contours created by the jowls, we use dermal fillers again. A small treatment in the right areas makes a world of difference for patients struggling with jowls and the “hills and valleys” that come with them.
